Extraordinary relationships do not come from luck, things in common or even chemistry. They require intention, determination and generosity.

Relationships are where you go to give – not where you go to get. What are you doing to be the best giver you can be? How are you practicing generosity when you are present with your lover? Who can you become that will attract your ideal partner, and keep them enthralled in a passionate relationship forever?

When it comes to relationships, so many people think that there’s some sort of finish line – that once you finally find your person, you’ve somehow “made it.” But in reality, that’s just the beginning. 

Relationships, like any area of your life, require attention, intention and presence in order to thrive. And who among us doesn’t want a wildly passionate, intimate relationship in which we’re challenged, cherished and cheered on? When you put the work in – when you actively engage yourself in your relationship and focus on becoming the best partner you can be, on giving all that you can to your lover, you’ll discover a love like you’ve never known.

Ask yourself, “What kind of relationship do I want? And what do I want from it?”

  • It’s surprising how many people never step back for a moment to identify what they want from a relationship. If you are someone who tends to over analyze, you likely have already asked yourself this question. But are you specific in your answer? Did you say, “I want to feel happy with my partner,” or, “I want a relationship where I feel both secure and excited, which will make me happy because I need both.”
  • How will you know you’ve achieved your ideal relationship? It might feel strange, but try to quantify your results, and put a timeframe around it. For example: “I will know I’m successful when I do three small nice things for my partner, 6 out of 7 days a week, without being aware of it.”
  • Is there a romantic relationship you admire? Observe how they treat each other, how they behave. Write down your observations.

Uncover the compelling reason you want these results.

  • What kind of trigger words really motivate you to reach your goal? What are some words around relationships that excite you? Love, passion, family, excitement, intimacy, comfort, adventure? What words really make you want to do something?
  • Ask yourself, Why do I want this? What is my real purpose? Why is this not just a “should,” but a must for me? Associate to the “why” of what you are doing.
  • Then ask yourself, How will this add value? How will a relationship like this make me feel every day?

Your massive action plan

Once you know the relationship you are committed to having, as well as why you must get it (the purpose), you can now create a MAP – a Massive Action Plan – to actually get there. Ask: What specific actions do I need to take to achieve this result?

Remember: often only a small number of your actions will make the biggest difference in your progress toward your goal – 20% of what you do in life makes 80% of the difference. Watch for your partner’s reaction to the things you do for them or what you say, and then focus more on the ones that are most effective.
